SUMMARY:Taylor James Donskey with Johanna Mathews
DESCRIPTION:You’re not going to want to miss this one. Two talented solo singer-songwriters\, Taylor James Donskey and Johanna Mathews take the Big River Theatre stage July 22nd\, starting at 7pm. \nAdvance tickets just $10! \nTickets go up to $15 day of show. \n  \nMeet the artists: \nTaylor James Donskey \nTaylor James Donskey is a lover and writer of songs. He is known for his work in the Minneapolis/St.Paul music scene as a side-man bassist\, music instructor\, host and soloist. He works to foster growth & connection through music. His songs tell stories of the everyday folks; stories set in the comfortable American styles of folk\, alt-country\, rock and indie. \nAbsorbing the sounds of the many bands he’s played in The Lowland Lakers\, Lena Elizabeth\, The Gentlemen’s Anti-Temperance League\, Barbaro\, Donskey has carved a unique spot for himself in the Twin Cities music scene that includes elements of pop\, bluegrass\, folk and jazz. \nRaised in La Crosse\, Wisconsin and influenced by his time in the Driftless Region\, he picked up the bass at 14 and began his life as a sideman. He played in pop punk bands and school jazz combos. He sang in choirs and played trumpet\, trombone\, percussion and most importantly\, the bass. This led him to playing paid gigs in high school\, sitting in with his uncle’s cover band. \nRecognizing his talent\, his uncle gave him a Sigma acoustic guitar. “He bought it in the seventies\, and I’ve continued to play it. A relentless old companion\, it has followed me wherever I go\, and it is the instrument from which many of my songs have grown.” \nJohanna Mathews \nBorn and raised in Minnesota\, Johanna Mathews has been performing her original songs at some of the top venues throughout the Twin Cities for over 10 years. Her music is haunting\, soulful\, and contemplative. She seeks to create a space for processing what we feel but may not have words to express. She has released one indie-folk EP\, titled Hank (her childhood nickname)\, and plans to release more music soon!

SUMMARY:Gretchen Peters
DESCRIPTION:Gretchen Peters \nFriday\, February 28\, 7:30-9pm\nThere’s a bittersweet beauty to the passing of time — the changes it brings are just as often heartbreaking as they are heartwarming. The inevitable tension that arises from that sway is Gretchen Peters’ most trusted muse. “The years go by like days. Sometimes the days go by like years. And I don’t know which one I hate the most\,” she sings in “Arguing with Ghosts\,” the hauntingly wistful opening cut on her new album\, Dancing with the Beast. \nBeauty tempered by dread\, sorrow buoyed by hope\, these are the ever-present tugs of war that make life worth living and songs worth writing. And they are the over-riding themes that make Gretchen Peters one of her generation’s most compelling singer/songwriters. \nTickets are 16 in advance\, 18 day of show

Additionally\, Chris has also released 5 albums with his band Rogue Valley and 2017ʼs electro-pop collection Off The Screen under the moniker Nobody Kid. \nIn addition to releasing and producing his own music\, Chris is also involved with other projects including performing with Minnesota-based artists The New Standards and Little Fevers. Chris also records and produces other artists\, most recently 2 EPs for buzzworthy rockers Early Eyes. \nThe music Chris produces is rooted in Americana but heeds its own spirit. Born out of folk\, country\, storytelling and rock ʼn roll\, Chris both honors and builds on Americana traditions by incorporating a unique pop-music sensibility\, subtle synthesizers\, rich harmonies\, and imaginative production choices. But despite late-night deep dives in the studio\, Chris never strays from the core of the song itself and isn’t afraid to let a raw vocal and woodsy acoustic guitar deliver the story. Chris performs solo\, as a duo\, and with a band of almost any other configuration. \n$13 in advance\, $15 at the door
